Just in Time Management did not mean producing parts the very minute they are required for assembly. It meant having the parts ready on time as produced in the same building; not down the road at some separate manufacturing facility where they may not be ready the day before just in time and then that supplier can hold your assembly ransom with parts unavailable and out of time. GM now prepares all parts within the same manufacturing facility to ensure everything is ready just in time with the help of Toyota's Lease and Management of the GM brands and manufacturing facilities.
