Uni Qlo is a global retailer with customers all over the world. This includes Canada also; and the UK. Uni Qlo is more than 30 years old now and they sell tons of clothing per year. They have an online business and a few flagship stores around the world serving the global Asian community that enjoys the cotton and wool materials infused with comfy familiar bamboo. These good people with income support provided by their more compliant governments are all over the world, filling the gap in the Anglo economies where these Anglo governments have not complied sufficiently with the income support programs required by all governments and their citizens cannot prop up the economy sufficiently as they do not have the remuneration as citizens to participate sufficiently. Many have left the Anglo world to become citizens of Europe or Asia or Russia. How long with they tolerate it? We don't know but certainly, Uni Qlo is a popular chain, carrying many staple standards such as the Blue Jean, T shirts, affordable dress shirts and easy formal business attire. They offer quality that is reasonably priced. It's kind of a 'Banana Republic' in terms of the emotion and clothing detail; sort of RW and Co. it is also reminiscent of NEXT UK with ubiquitous styling. This is great but you need to find your size before you buy. The standard method of preparing jeans for sale is to make certain average sizes available. This may have been Uni Qlo's problem initially in terms of global markets; the adoption of the average sizing of the average European or North American buyer with Asians being less plumpy and less High Tower-ish on the average. But, this could be a problem again. The issue is not quality or popular ubiquitous, timeless style. Uni Qlo wins here. But, can a 6'5" man find a 34 waist with a 34 length Khaki pant or Jean on the shelf at Uni Qlo? The answer is yes. But, based on current observations, maybe the 34 length is the only length available in the shop. This is not good if you are on vacation and need an emergency pair of khakis. Apparently, you can buy online and find your size or you can go to Old Navy that is usually in the same Mall or shopping area just next to H and M that usually has the same offerings and global sizing as the Old Navy and the Gap. But, the irony of walking into a Uni Qlo and not being able to find your size is a daunting experience. It's the first store you walked in that day and you were lucky to find an old, discontinued pair of pants that fits but the new seasonal items were all 34 length. Maybe the height of the average Asian has gone up. We don't know but you just keep an eye on the competition that includes the Gap, Old Navy, MUJI and H and M that still offers enough 30" length and 34" length jeans and trousers on the shelf. This is what we look forward to. I am a casual clothing buyer and surf the sale rack as often as I can. It's fun to find a bargain and often I stop at Uni Qlo for the staples such as socks, T shirts and under-wear that is fairly priced and positively offered. Domo Arigato Sensei Uni Qlo.
