This just in; it is rumoured that the City of London Ontario has decided to build a Citizen's Centre that is the size of the Centennial College Campus at Markham Road and Highway 401 to help the unsheltered. It will also work in the day time as a School environment for these individuals. The purpose is to get them resolved and assisted in whatever problem they are facing. There will be a hotel type front desk. Your health card is all you will need to register and pay. There will be food provided in a buffet setting. You can also ask for airline type meals to be served three times a day. If you need any snacks at any other time of day, you can get them at the 24 hour snack shop. Just swipe your card. Did something happen to their bank card or their account? There will be a bank representative available from every bank on site once a day from 9 am to 9 pm. We have enough ID and we can help. There will also be an agent on site from Service Canada also. We would like to know what happened and how. This is not mandatory but it may help to get your life in order again. You are a valuable asset. You might have been the victim of mischief. People can choose to sleep in a dorm room with 12 beds or take a sleeping mat or sleeping bag. You need to keep you bag or mat. This is a temporary arrangement until housing is found. Every citizen will be getting a new income support of no less than $80,000.00 per year. An Ohip Debit card will be provided in the meantime and it will enable them to pay for hotel stays anywhere in the country, all travel and food or pharmacy purchases. Their purchases may be studied over a 24 month period. Each guest will eventually be offered housing some where in Ontario or in the country. It might be a new unit in Flin Flon in a 30 storey building. But, at least they are not freezing outside.
